Rhino Rust Bond
Epoxy/Rust Inhibiting Metal Primer
RHINO RUST BOND is a two-part epoxy primer designed specifically for rusted metal surfaces. The RUST BOND will seal rust and is loaded with rust inhibitors. RHINO RUST BOND penetrates to reenforce and bond rusted surfaces. This primer requires a top coat. RHINO RUST BOND is a two part, 100% solid epoxy system. As a 100% solid product, RHINO RUST BOND does not shrink and offers a very low surface tension.
RHINO RUST BOND provides exceptional adhesion to rusted, aged and corroded surfaces. Specifically designed for metal and rust when blasting is not practical nor economically justified. The priming system seals and unifies the substrate surface providing a paintable surface.
A clean, dry, tight surface is required. Cleanse all dirt, grease, chemicals, and soap residue. Remove mold and mildew with a chlorine solution (1 to 8 ratio of pool chlorine to water). Further dispose of any loose rust, paint or foreign material by pressure washing or scraping. Oil on rusty steel may be removed by wire brush, solvent wipes, and/or water blasting. All salts and oils must be removed. Solvent wiping (SSPC SP-1) is ideal. Cleanliness should be verified with indicator paper or other test methods.
Blend one Part A to one Part B. Agitate the 1:1 blend
ratio until components are thoroughly mixed.
DO NOT THIN.
POT LIFE: Decreases as temperature increases.
80° F or less–2.5 hours.
80° F – 90° F or less –1.5 hours
90°F-100° F–1 hour
Will lose pot life above 100°F in 30 minutes or less.
RHINO RUST BOND is designed to be applied in thin films, 1-2 mils wet and dry per coat. Wet and dry film have the same mil thickness. Roll with very short nap roller or brush with high quality paint mitt. Edges should receive a stripe coat prior to a full prime. Rust Bond is the direct to metal/rust primer. It is not a finish coat. For heavier rust or salt air conditions a mid-coat is recommended (either Rhinopoxy Ultra or Rhino Mastic Expoxy) followed by a urethane coat. Please refer to the AmCoat industrial application manual for more details. Minimum temperature of 50°F is required.
THEORETICAL COVERAGE: 600 sq. ft. per gallon. Coverage will vary with surface porosity.
Address spills while product is still wet.
